I like that this is more than just a vote (a la 'Britain's top 50 whatever' TV show) -- it would be interesting to see what kind of 'debate' they can stir up at the Manchester literary festival :)

I took a look at the books presumptiously labelled 'Fact', and don't see too many things I'd really want to read -- could it be that they've chosen a bit poorly? Apart from the obvious works, I mean (e.g. An incovenient truth, A brief history of time). A lot more of the Fiction appeals, which is not what I'd normally prefer…
